Sweet Harrison

Last night driving home from church Harrison says, "Mom, no matter where you are I will always think about you and no matter where I am I will always love you."

Yep, I pretty much LOVE being that little boy's mom!!

Today on the way home from school he told me, "Mom, I say elestrick instead of electricty.  That's what they called it a long time ago.  :)  Then he went on to explain how somebody has "elestrick" in their swords and about how they fight with it.

A few moments later I hear, "Hey bay-buh (baby)!  Mom, I call you bay-buh." Me: "You do?  Why do you call me that?" H: "I don't know - that's just what I call you."

Hahahaha!!!  He cracks me up everyday - and I love it!!

Caleb's dedication

Today was family dedication at our church.  Caleb did great!  He smiled and cooed at the audiance as we held him sweetly in our arms.   Harrison was a champ too!  He stood still and held the flowers, book and card they gave us and listened as Pastor Travis gave the charge to the families.  Emilee on the other hand was a different story...

 A very important lesson was learned today - Baby dedication can wait until there are no two year olds involved in the process!

Caleb's allergies

We found out this week that Caleb has allergies!  Since around 3 months he has had eczema, but for the most part we could take care of it with vasoline and Aveeno eczema lotion.  I talked to the dr. at his 4 month check-up and she said to coat him head to toe with vasoline twice a day and put a steroid cream on the bad places.  I decided not to use the steroid (maily because I didn't want to put a steroid on such a young baby and secondly because the teeny tiny tube of it cost $70+ and I thought that was crazy!).  He was doing really well and his skin was looking great from using the vasoline twice a day and we were really happy.  The only place where we just couldn't get to clear up was under his chin.  It didn't matter how much vasoline I put there or how many bibs and shirts I changed on him a day (and it was a lot!) that area still stayed red and itchy.  Last Thursday I got the great idea to use clear Desitin under his chin.  We had used the original Desitin on him for diaper rashes and it had worked fine so I thought this would be ok.  After I put it on his neck we ate dinner and he sat in his chair in his diaper because he had drooled all over his clothes and he was going in the bath after we ate.  When we picked him up after dinner his neck looked like he had scratched himself some because it was a little redder.  After his bath we coated him with lotion and vasoline as usual and then I sad down to nurse him.  He seemed fine and was acting fine but when I looked at him his neck looked really red.  I unbuttoned his pjs and his whole chest was bright red.  So we took off his clothes and called the dr. (and Mike's mom).  They both said it sounded like a topical reaction and that we didn't need to do anything unless it got worse or didn't go away.  It was gone within an hour and he went to bed. 
The next morning his eczema looked worse than it had in weeks and we decided to take him to the dr.  He went through all the questions (yes we use free and clear detergent, no we don't smoke, no he hasn't been anywhere different, no he hasn't eaten any foods, no my diet hasn't changed etc.).  He said he was going to refer us to an allergist because he is so young and hives can get progressively worse.  He wanted us to be able to find out what it was before he started eating baby foods and it maybe got worse.
Yesterday we went to the allergist and he had to have 24 pricks on his back and blood drawn from both arms for additional testing.  So far they told me to take eggs, peanuts and tree nuts out of my diet.  I will take him back next Thursday to see if anything else showed up on the bloodwork tests.  I am very sad that he is already allergic to some foods, however the allergist said he wouldn't be surprised if he outgrew the egg allergy.  There is a small posibility that he will outgrow the peanut allergy but this one is much more likely to stay with him for his whole life.  I am praying that this won't be the case for Cale and am thankful  I can go to the Great Physician about this.  He is able to heal Caleb and I am trusting Him to answer my prayers!
Caleb also had small reactions to cats/dogs and cows milk, but not enough to get rid of the dogs or for me to stop milk - which I am very thankful for!
Now, here is what I am most curious about and I am open to hear anyone's option on this matter.  When I was pregnant with Caleb I had gestational diabetes.  Guess what I started eating more of during that time???? EGGS and NUTS!!!!  Is that coincidental or could it be linked somehow?  I am very curious!

This is at the allergist having the prick test done.  I get tears in my eyes everytime I see this picture.  The biggest welp on his right side was peanuts.

I have been back to the allergist and the blood work said that he was not allergic to eggs - praise the Lord!  I am still not eathing them for the next month or so until he skin has completely stopped reacting.  Right now we have 2 steroid creams for his face and body to use twice a day on the "hot spots".  He looks 100% better now and we are praying that he won't have any more reactions as we start him on baby foods.  I'll update again soon - hoepfully :)

Emilee Jane turns 2!

We cannot believe our little girl is two already!  She is loads of fun, full of energy and makes us laugh when she is tries to boss someone around.  This year we had her birthday party on Dec. 18th so Gracie and Wilson could come.  Everyone came to Gigglebugs, a bouncy place and had lots of fun running and jumping.  Her actual birthday was pretty low key.  We stayed home most of the  day and let her play with her new playhouse (which I got for a steal the day after Thanksgiving!) and her Christmas toys (because we had been gone so much she had hardly had anytime to play with them!)  Mom and dad came over and enjoyed tacos (one thing Emilee will actually eat) and a pudding pie!  Mike's mom was in PA that day, but Emilee had spent the night with her a few nights before for some special time with "MeeMaw" (Grandma).
