Harrison Loves Being a Big Cousin!

Last week I started watching my nephew Luke for half a day while my SIL goes back to work. I will keep him for 3 weeks and then Mike's brother Mark is home for 3 weeks and he will keep him (Mark works on a boat - 3 wks. on 3 wks. off).

Harrison has been LOVING having Luke at our house! The first or second day he was there Harrison asked me if Luke was his brother. :) I explained that he was Luke's big cousin and he seemed very happy about that.

Harrison has been a really big helper too. He likes to bring me diapers and I don't EVER have to find or put Luke's pacy in his mouth - Harrison has got that covered. If Luke starts to cry Harrison says, "It's ok Luke I coming" or "I here". I know Harrison will make a wonderful big brother one day!

Don't worry Harrison is holding all of his weight up (I checked) but I do not leave them in the same room unattended for this same reason!

We are slackers!

About 3 years ago one of my dad's friends told us he could get some chairs from Red Lobster that they were getting rid of. Each chair was like $10 and we thought it was a great deal! We would just recover them and they would be as good as new. Plus we only had 4 chairs and they were starting to break because "people" kept rocking back in them. :)

Anyway, we still have the chairs. They have not been recovered and they look so bad we are embarrassed to have people (besides family) over for dinner.

BUT...

We have finally started to work on them!!! We have all the supplies and we have 1 chair completed! Each chair has about 100 (not an exaggeration) staples in it that we have to take out - which is why we only completed one. It takes about 2-3 hrs. to take all the staples out and recover the seat - it is quite a process. We are hoping to complete this little project soon so we can have dinner guests over!

Harrison's Tubes

This morning I was looking in Harrison's ears (its just something a mom does!) and I saw what I thought was a big scab. At first it scared me and then I realized it was blue and it must be his tube. I took him to the bathroom and wiped it out with a Q-tip. It was covered in wax, which is what I guess pushed it out. I cleaned it up and took some pictures for your benefit and so I would remember it. :) At his two year check-up (4 1/2 months ago) they told me it was loose and would probably fall out soon. A month or so ago Harrison told us that he had a bug in his ear. I thought then that is was just coming out a little further. I think it is neat that I saw it and it just didn't fall out on the ground!

He still has the one in his right ear (I guess) so just pray that the evil ear infections will not come back! Hopefully his tubes have grown and slanted enough that fluid will drain out and not sit in his ear and give him the infections.

I know these pictures were weird, but I don't plan on carrying the tube around to show people (I'm not THAT weird) and I just wanted anyone interested to be able to see how small it was. It's also very rubbery, not hard (which is what I thought). That's all!

Potty Training

The time is quickly approaching... time to potty train. We have been working on it a little since Harrison showed any interest in the potty, but it has not been consistent at all because he just wasn't ready yet.

Yesterday I put big boy underwear on him as a little reward (they are Thomas the train and he LOVES them - we don't even put pants back on so he can see them and look at them!) after he went pee-pee in potty.

I was getting ready in our bathroom and Harrison came running in and was playing with a ball. He ran over the shower and told me he was going poo. I quickly put him on out toilet (he wasn't very happy at first) and he went! Mike was still home and we had a party in the bathroom! He got a bowl full of M&M's (not really, but it was more than 2). We were going to Wal-Mart and I told him he could pick out a toy since he was such a big boy and we put some pull-ups on him.

Before we went to Wal-Mart I stopped at the gym I had been visiting to join. While we were there Harrison told me he had to pee-pee so we took off for the bathroom and he went! I was so happy and thinking that he was maybe getting it.

Then we got home and he refused to go on the potty. After nap time we put big boy underwear back on and he refused to go everytime I took him. Then at last he pooped in the underwear (which is just gross!).

Today, not interested AT ALL so I am not going to push the issue. We have pull-ups, big boy underwear, M&M's and a ball that he picked out at Wal-mart (of course -we only have a million of them already - but it was what he wanted) that is now on top of the refrigerator until he goes to the potty again. We are ready and will just wait a few more weeks and see if Harrison is too.

Although Harrison is not ready to go potty, I on the other hand am ready to go potty!

This morning we were rushing around gettting ready for Bible study. I ran into the bathroom right before we left and Harrison of course came with me. When he heard me "go" he opened his mouth real wide and said "Mama go pee-pee on the potty. M&M's!" I can of course just picture myself doing this exact same thing when Harrison goes. I said, "That's ok Harrison mama doesn't need any M&M's right now." He thought I did and so I hear "Come on mama, M&M's". So I went and had an M&M. A few seconds later as I am putting my earrings on Harrison comes up to me and says "Mama I proud of you!" (something else he has heard me say when he is on the potty) That has made me smile all day!

So I have been potty trained well and hopefully little man will get there one day soon too!

Beautiful Weekend!

It was such a perfect weekend and we enjoyed some much needed time outside. Here are a few pictures from our fun filled Saturday!

Trouble in the Big Boy Bed

Well, I was afraid it would happen and it did. Last night (Harrison's 2nd night in his bed) he woke up crying about 12 for no reason. I had only been asleep for about an hour so I felt like I had bricks on my ankles as I walked to his room. He was back asleep in just a second and so was I!

Then around 4:30 am he fell out of the and he was screaming for me. My sweet husband was able to stumble out of the bed first and found him sitting in his floor. Unfortunately daddy was not what Harrison wanted. He continued to screaming for me and I knew it was going to take a little longer to get him back to sleep this time so I put my pj pants back on and went to the bathroom. When I made it to Harrison's room Mike was very thankful to be handing him off! I had previously planned to squish into his little bed with him when we decide to take the bobbies away so I can still rest and he will hopefully sleep too. I decided to try that so I squished into the bed with Harrison, to which he screamed even louder "You too big my bed mommy! You too big!"

Soooo...... I sat in the floor and laid my head on his bed and held his hand. He calmed down in just a few seconds but he was awake and didn't want me to leave. So I curled up in the floor with my head on the big Pooh bear for a pillow and laid there until I could tell he was asleep again. Then I quietly crawled to the door and went back to bed. No more trouble for the rest of the night.

NOW - how am I going to keep that little wiggle worm in his bed?!?!?! Any suggestions?

Uh-oh!

Just went in to check on Harrison before I go to bed tonight and here is what I found..


This big boy bed thing might not work out like we thought! We will probably have to get a California King to keep our squirmy little fellow in the bed!

Our Little Boy is Growing Up!

Saturday our bolts for Harrison's toddler bed arrived in the mail. We decided to change his crib into the toddler bed on Sunday afternoon before his nap so he could get used to it before night time. He was really excited about the new bed and LOVES that he can get in and out by himself! We told him that he was a big boy and he had to throw away one of his bobbies, which he gladly did, and hasn't asked for since. So, we are down to just one and as soon as we think he is really comfortable in his new bed that one will be gone too! It is exciting to see him grow and change and I love each new happening that goes on in his little life, but it also makes me sad to see how quickly he is growing. I totally understand what dad meant when he said he turned around and we were all grown up - and I don't want to turn around!

So far Harrison has done excellent in his new bed. He was up a little earlier this morning but nothing too strange. We still have his bumper, tied very ugly-ie, in his bed because he likes his head up against it so much. We have a little pillow for him and he seems to like that so the bumper will probably be gone soon too.

Sunday was the Super Bowl and Mike is a Steelers fan which is why Harrison is decked out in that outfit. Unfortunately gold and black are NOT Harrison's colors and he doesn't look very cute in these pics!

We told Harrison to say "GO Steelers! Win the Super Bowl". Here he is saying "super powers" and that is what he said the rest of the night!
